If you are aged between 14 and 16 years and performing professionally, earning at least half of the adult rate for the job in question you can become a Youth Member.
Please note that the union welcomes paid child performers aged 14 and 15 into youth membership, and the in absence of union protection, working children aged 13 and under should contact their local education authority for assistance. The local authority is responsible for licensing all children until they have finished compulsory education - i.e. the end of the year in which they sit GCSEs and so should be able to advise about chaperonage, hours and education whilst the child is working.
As a Youth Member you are entitled to the many benefits of belonging to Equity but pay a reduced subscription of £35 per year plus a one-off administration fee of £25 when you first join. To become a Youth Member you should complete a standard application form
On reaching your 16th birthday you are eligible to move into full membership of the union.
