Agents - Equity services
Equity does not recommend agencies or agents.
It is impossible for us to do so as we do not have first hand knowledge of every agency and agent in the UK and therefore we are not able to give informed opinions.
However, we do have some services available to our members and student members wanting advice about agents.
Legal advice
If a member is having problems over issues such as non-payment or contractual concerns with an agency or agent we provide advice and in some cases take up any necessary legal work In the first instance Members should contact the Equity office that covers the area in which the agent involved is based:

Special attention list:
Members are instructed in their own interests to consult Equity before accepting engagements with or through any of the names on this list. In most cases the names are there because the individual, company or agency has owed or still owes money to members. In some cases money will have been secured for members through the courts or through the dispute procedures in Equity contracts. Members should check with Equity that correct procedures have been undertaken in respect of any engagement offered by any individual, company or agency on the list. Contact 020 7670 0225. You and Your Agent Guide
This was published in 2004 as a free guide for Equity members and student members. It is in the Members Area of this website. The Guide provides information on contracts, payments to agents, client accounts, multiple agents, split deals, co-operative agencies, a sample agreement and a list of useful contacts. Contact 020 7379 6000 or email us at info@equity.org.uk giving your Equity name and number when requesting a copy.
Service for Agents
We run a subscription service for agents wanting to keep up to date with Equity Agreements in live and audiovisual media. For an annual fee they get copies of Agreements and updates. If you are an agent and want more information about this service please contact Matt Hood on 020 7670 0266.
