Equity's 2014 Annual Representative Conference proved to be a great success for the union, and not least for the Bristol & West General Branch, after our motion calling for mental health support for members was approved, and it was decided that the union's 2016 conference will be held in Bristol.

BBC NEWS: One of the West's best-loved stage performers has been remembered in pantomime style in Bath. Portishead's Chris Harris, who died recently at the age of 71, directed, starred in and co-wrote numerous Christmas theatre productions in Bristol and Bath.

THE STAGE: A man of many theatrical talents, Chris Harris is best remembered by West Country audiences as a pantomime dame. During the 1990s, he wrote, directed and starred in pantos for the Bristol Old Vic. He then performed a similar role for the Theatre Royal, Bath.

THE STAGE: An inquest into the death of the young actor Richard Gent has concluded that he committed suicide. Richard grew up around Bath and was a former Bath Spa University student. He had also worked at the Rondo Theatre.
