World Service drama
An on-line petition is calling on the BBC to withdraw plans to axe all drama output on the World Service from next year. The BBC has announced that it is to discontinue the 14 radio plays it broadcasts annually blaming the “difficult financial climate”.
The Stage newspaper has reported that the petition has been launched by Archie Graham, chair of Tiata Fadhozi Theatre. Equity lobbied MPs early in November about World Service drama cuts and it has been raised by the union in talks with the BBC.
