The John Fernald Award is now receiving applications for this year’s award, which will be considered in March 2012.
Aim of the Award
The Award was set up in 1988 from the estate of the late theatre director and RADA principal, John Fernald, with the aim of helping emerging Assistant Theatre Directors gain valuable experience within their field. A total of £5,000 is distributed annually.
Professional theatres (i.e. Equity or ITC contracts) can apply for grants on behalf of the Assistant Theatre Directors that they wish to employ along with proof that they have the budget to ensure that the trainee can complete the contract.
Who is it for?
Any experienced Assistant Theatre Director who wishes to work for a medium or small-scale professional theatre.
