Equity committee election results now declared

The ballot for Equity's specialists, national, area and equality committees closed on Friday 15 July and the results are now available.

Twenty-four committees were up for election. Twelve were contested: Midlands, Northern, Scottish, South East, Audio, Stage Management, Theatre Directors, Walk-on and Supporting Artists, LGBT women and men’s sections, Members with Disabilities, Women and Young Members. Twelve were uncontested: London, Northern Ireland, South West, Wales, Choreographers, Concert and Session Singers, Independent Theatre Arts, Models, Stunt, Theatre Designers, Theatre Fight Directors, LGBT transgender section, Minority Ethnic Members.

The turn-out was 7 per cent – marginally up on the 6.48 per cent in 2009.

There is a tie for the ninth place on the Members with Disabilities’ Committee between Floraidh F MacLeod and Freddie Stabb. The Equity Council at its meeting on Tuesday 26 July will decide how to resolve that tie.
