High Society cast supports My Theatre Matters!
28 March 2013
The My Theatre Matters! campaign took an important step forwards when Daniel Boys from the touring company of High Society took to the stage at the end of the show to talk to the audience at the Theatre Royal Newcastle about the campaign.
For a couple of minutes the audience listened in silence as he told them about how important local Council support is for the theatre they were sitting in and encouraged them to sign up to the campaign at www.mytheatrematters.com.
His speech followed one by Marilyn Cutts on the previous night as the cast of High Society show their support for the campaign. We have already seen a boost in the number of campaign supporters as a result.
This is what My Theatre Matters! is about - Equity members and audiences working together to secure the future of our theatres.
Are you working on stage at the moment? Could you give a curtain call speech to your audience? If you could, please contact the organiser local to the theatre where you are working - contact details here: http://www.equity.org.uk/contact-us/equity-offices/
You won't have to write the speech yourself - we can give you a draft speech to read.
This is an enormously important campaign for the future of our theatres – Equity hopes you feel able to get involved.
