Half of members accept work for no pay Equity survey shows
6 December 2013
Nearly half of Equity members responding to a union survey have said that they have worked for no pay in the past 12 months, mostly without expenses. Theatre was the most common sector to work for no pay (46.1%) followed by film (25.2%) and film school (15.8%).
Over 3,000 members took part — the biggest response to a general membership survey Equity has ever had — and the results tell the story of how hard it is to survive as an entertainment professional. A report of the Survey was presented to the Equity Council at its meeting on 3 December.
