Performers make their case in Parliament
10 November 2011

This year’s Parliamentary Reception was a great success as members mixed with MPs and Lords and discussed issues such as the importance of intellectual property, the Licensing Act and the Lost Arts website.
The new Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Harriet Harman, made a passionate speech in favour of the arts, while Ed Vaizey Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries, countered for the government.
The Parliamentary Reception is just one example of the lobbying work Equity does on behalf, and with, its members.
See below for a video that was shown at the event detailing recent work undertaken by the Performers' Alliance group, which consists of Equity, the Musicians' Union and the Writers' Guild. There is no audio on this video.
