Review of the Year published
14 February 2012
Equity members will be receiving the union's Review of the Year through the post and it is now also available online.
The Review is an annual publication that highlights the work that Equity has undertaken in the previous year.
This issue has an interview with Equity Councillor Sanita Simms on how an influx of young members on the Equity Council, the union’s ruling body, has led to new perspectives on the profession. It features actress Caroline Quentin explaining why she serves as an Equity Deputy, opera star Sir John Tomlinson speaks about his stellar career and freed Burmese comedian Zarganar thanks Equity members for their campaign to get him released from jail. It also contains an interview with top agent Nicholas Young celebrating Equity’s new commercials agreement and stuntman Richard Hammatt reveals how Equity helped when a stunt went wrong.
On page 3 of the print version of The Review of the Year we incorrectly refer to Sanita Simms as the author of the statement in favour of the rule change that enabled Equity to change its rules so that it can now deal with complaints from members that have been subject to harassment, prejudice or unfair discrimination from a fellow member. She co-wrote the statement with fellow member Peter Barnes.
