Imprisoned Burmese performer Zarganar made Honorary Life Member of Equity
25 May 2011

Burma's most famous comedian, Zarganar, has been made an Honorary Life Member of Equity. The honour was collected by his close friend and colleage Hthein Lin at Equity's Annual Representative Conference held in London in May.
Zarganar is currently serving a 35-year prison sentence, after criticising the Burmese government’s handling of Cyclone Nargis in 2008. The cyclone devastated the country - more than 140,000 people died and millions were made homeless.
