Welcome

Equity has a vital network of branches throughout the UK which give members a voice in the union and much more. Branches hold regular meetings in their local area and all members and student members are invited to attend these to share views and experiences, discuss issues that are of importance to them and put proposals to Equity's ruling body - the Equity Council. Branches also organise a programme of social events and raise money for local charities.

If you are an Equity member or student member based in the area you are able to join the branch (no charge) so please get in touch with the Branch Secretary. If you are a member or student member visiting the area you are very welcome to drop into the next branch meeting and get to know some of your fellow members.

The West of England Branch meets on the first Monday of every month excluding Bank Holidays. We meet at St Annes Board Mills Social Club, Barton Vale, Bristol(Tel: 0117 9557067) in the lounge. We start at 8.0 0 pm, and everyone is welcome. If you are visiting Bristol, and belong to another branch, you can still come along to the meeting for a chat, although you would not be able to vote.
The West of England Branch also covers Devon and Cornwall and is far reaching in other directions, so we rely on members locally to support the branch. Our branch were responsible for the motion about branch websites to the ARC some time ago, and we are really proud that as a result a growing number of branches are now taking advantage of yet another service that the union offers to its members. Its an example of making a difference by coming up with an idea that is useful to everyone. We all have a part to play, but its also nice to meet your friends, and catch up.
We sometimes have guest speakers who are relevent to all the membership, and we are fortunate enough to have Sir Norman Wisdom as our Patron. Although his living arrangements have recently changed, he is still very aware of things he is involved in , and likes to be kept up to date with the comings and goings of the branch. In fact, one of our branch members is also managed by the same person, so we have regular updates on Normans' progress.
