Find the Support You Need

Throughout this crisis, Equity has been helping members in many ways, from dedicated financial advice to mental health support

As well as negotiating across all sectors to achieve the best possible deals for our members, and lobbying the government for greater protective measures for creative workers, Equity staff have been working hard to support you through a range of services during this crisis.

Mental health

In these unpredictable times many of our members may be experiencing difficulties with and worries about their mental health. Equity has a support system for members dealing with mental health problems, including a dedicated 24/7 mental health helpline and remote well-being sessions.

Financial advice & support

During a challenging time for our industry Equity is working to give you the best financial help and support possible. As well as producing a regularly updated coronavirus financial support briefing, the union has bolstered its hardship fund and expanded the tax & welfare team to ensure you receive the support you need.

Coronavirus financial support briefing: Equity has put together a guide to help members understand their rights to the different kinds of financial support available during the Coronavirus pandemic and how to claim them. It covers the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), the self-employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) and Universal Credit (UC), as well as other tax measures and loan schemes, and is being updated on a rolling basis. Access the full briefing here.

Equity’s Tax and Welfare Rights Advice Line: For further information and advice you can contact the Tax and Welfare Rights Advice Line at Equity, open on Mondays and Thursdays from 10-1pm and 2-5pm. Call 0207 670 0223 or email helpline@equity.org.uk.

Equity Benevolent Fund: Members can apply for financial support from the Union through our hardship fund. For more details please see our Benevolent Fund article. You can also visit equity.org.uk/benfund for more information and to submit an application.
