Equity is the UK trade union representing performers and other creative workers from across the spectrum of the entertainment, creative and cultural industries. We are currently recruiting for: Head of Membership and Executive Assistant to the General Secretary.

Head of Membership

We are looking for a Head of Membership to lead our membership team, managing and fully participating in the delivery of the union’s membership services, including the registration of new members, servicing of current members, maintenance of membership records and processing of all membership queries, and procurement and management of membership systems. We are looking for someone with the ability to lead, strategise and manage our membership section of six/seven staff, and to proactively involve themselves in the day to day work in a hands on way.

To be successful, you will need to be passionate about providing an outstanding service to Equity members. You should have a strong, demonstrable commitment to the trade union movement, exceptional knowledge of membership services and systems, excellent communication and IT skills, and be a confident leader and strategist.

The starting salary is £64,039.91, including London weighting and rising on a scale, with 31 days annual leave and a pension available.

This post is a permanent appointment and is based at Equity’s headquarters in Covent Garden, London.

Executive Assistant to the General Secretary

The Executive Assistant to the General Secretary will work to support the General Secretary, Deputy for the General Secretary and Head of Operations & Finance in the carrying out of their work, providing exceptional secretarial and administrative support to each of them, as well as administering the HR function of the union under the direction of the General Secretary.

The role is perfect for someone who is highly organised, with exceptional written and spoken communication skills, and with the ability to use their judgement and work independently. An advanced user of Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, you’ll be capable of producing everything from reports to correspondence to official minutes.

You will be an experienced HR professional having previously worked in a demanding administration role providing quality support to a Director or senior team members. You will be well organised and able to form positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

You will have a strong, demonstrable commitment to the trade union movement, and will need to have personal integrity, be trustworthy, reliable and have a positive approach to your work. You will be tactful, eloquent and able to confidently handle information of a sensitive nature effectively. The ability to juggle competing priorities, manage diaries and communicate professionally to a wide range of people is essential.

The starting salary is £41,284.38, including London weighting and rising on a scale, with 31 days annual leave and a pension available.
