Equity is the UK trade union representing performers and other creative workers from across the spectrum of the entertainment, creative and cultural industries. We are currently recruiting for the role of Finance Officer.

FINANCE OFFICER, EQUITY

We have an exciting opportunity for someone with the energy and commitment to take on a challenging and rewarding role.

The role of Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the Head of Finance in the delivery of a wide range of finance functions within Equity, including budgeting, payroll, banking, invoicing, investments, annual audits and reporting.

The role would suit someone with prior experience of working in a finance team at a similarly sized organisation, with strong knowledge of the trade union/performing arts sectors, and the skills required to operate in a small team. You will be an effective part of our two-person Finance department and, under the direction of the Head of Finance, you will pro-actively manage all the Union’s finances.

You will have an understanding of the demands of working to provide a comprehensive finance function within a political environment, reporting to the Head of Finance, working in line with the Union’s democratic structures, and operating within trade union law and the Union’s own Rules.

You will need to have a tactful, positive approach to dealing with our team of 60 staff, and with our 48,000 members on a wide range of issues.

You will work with and support the Head of Finance in the efficient and timely preparation and delivery of financial accounts, management figures and information, and budgets. You will be ready to hit the ground running, and will be able to prioritise effectively under pressure.

The starting salary is £50,817.88 (including London weighting), with 31 days annual leave and a contributory pension scheme.
