The current General Secretary, Christine Payne, will retire in October 2020 and the Equity Council therefore calls for applications for the position of General Secretary of the union.

The closing date for the receipt of completed applications from applicants seeking the Council’s nomination is Thursday 23 January 2020 at 12 noon.

Interviews for applicants seeking the Council’s nomination will be held in central London on Sunday 9 February 2020.

The closing date for the receipt of completed applications from members standing in their own right is Monday 6 April 2020.

Unless there is only one applicant, the successful applicant for the position will then be decided by a ballot of the union’s membership in accordance with the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992.

The annual salary is in the region of £90,000.
