Benevolent Fund

The Coronavirus epidemic is an unprecedented crisis but we will get through it by facing it together.

Thousands of entertainment workers have lost their jobs and are in dire financial need as bills are beginning to mount up. Despite the public perception, the vast majority of performers, stage managers and creative practitioners working in the entertainment industry earn modest sums and this sudden loss of income is devastating.

#ForTheLoveOfArtsFifty British actors have filmed monologues, readings and performances from their homes during lockdown to raise money for creative workers affected by the coronavirus crisis. You can watch Ian McKellen's performance below, and the rest of the series on the Equity Benevolent Fund YouTube channel.

The Equity Benevolent Fund helps every member in need of support and to date, has provided more than 2,000 members with financial assistance. However, the Fund is currently giving out £86,000 a week and, with no signs that applications will slow down, donations from the public are vital to ensure we can continue to support everyone who needs our help during this pandemic.
