THE STAGE: An inquest into the death of the young actor Richard Gent has concluded that he committed suicide. Richard grew up around Bath and was a former Bath Spa University student. He had also worked at the Rondo Theatre.

BRISTOL CULTURE: New Worlds starts on Channel 4 tonight (1st April), and if you look closely you may spot several scenes shot in familiar Bristol locations. The major new four-part historical drama written and created by Peter Flannery and Martine Brant follows on from their 2008 BAFTA-nominated series The Devil’s Whore.

12 months ago, Melinbrand, the current owners of the Whiteladies Road cinema were refused their application & appeal to turn the cinema building into flats and a gym. Their new application for flats and a three screen cinema is not at all sympathetic to the building's fabric or history and will not create the live performance space envisioned by the separate Whiteladies Picture House campaign.
