THE STAGE: Arts Council England’s new set of portfolio organisations represents “no demonstrated ambition” to redress the balance of funding between the regions and London, according to the authors of a recent report criticising the capital’s funding bias.

BRISTOL CULTURE: There are now 20 Arts Council England (ACE) national portfolio organisations in Bristol, with public art commissioners Situations and theatre producers MAYK joining the list for the first time alongside St George’s and the Bristol Music Trust, the charity that runs Colston Hall.

BRISTOL POST: It seems that Hollywood really has arrived in Hengrove after it was confirmed that a major American TV series is to be filmed at a former wine warehouse in the south Bristol suburb. The Bottle Yard, the film studios and complex which is part owned by Bristol City Council, has just landed its biggest and most prestigious project to date.

Equity's 2014 Annual Representative Conference proved to be a great success for the union, and not least for the Bristol & West General Branch, after our motion calling for mental health support for members was approved, and it was decided that the union's 2016 conference will be held in Bristol.
