South Glos' Council awards funding to Brass Works Theatre

Amid the doom and gloom of funding cuts and venue closures, it's good to see that at least one local authority recognises the value of theatre arts.

Brass Works Theatre, South Gloucestershire's first professional theatre venue, recently announced on their Facebook page that South Gloucestershire Council have awarded them a small revenue grant to continue with their work.

Brass Works Theatre was started in 2012 by local actor, writer and Equity member Adrian Harris. The theatre is housed in the famous Champion Brass Works above Kingswood Heritage Museum.

Productions so far have included Harris' own new play Engineers' Blue, and an adaptation of The Mystery of the Hound of the Baskervilles by local writer, Bruce Fellows. Forthcoming productions include Macbeth in association with the Bristol Shakespeare Festival.
