Players Company SW
Free workshops? Too good to be true?
No, it’s not! Meet Players Company!
We are arranging monthly workshops and they are absolutely free – we call them Playdates!
How do we do it?
It’s collaborative; so it’s run by the people who are there. Sometimes someone may lead it, but it’s voluntary. Perhaps someone wants to workshop an idea, or try out a piece of new writing – all thoughts and offerings are welcome.
We ask venues for a space for free! We only ask for a 2-3 hour slot per year from each venue. With comparatively little inconvenience they can demonstrate their support for the arts community, introduce their venue to a new group of people and we'll be keen to buy drinks (if they sell them). Generous host Venues so far include Southbank Club, PACTS, Floating Harbour Films and Cotham Parish Church.
Playdates are held in the first week of the month – we email details a couple of weeks before, with the final information in the week before the Playdate. The days and times vary – meaning all performers will find playdates they can attend and we are able to fit in with each venues availability.
The Playdates are co-ordinated by Kim Hicks, Chris Yapp and Janet Adams and are backed as an initiative by the Bristol and West General Branch of Equity.
