Riverboat Shuffle: Last jazz evening on the Broads?

20 May 2014

Mavis Wesley, Honorary Branch Treasurer, has announced that this year’s Riverboat Shuffle on the Broads will be the last she organises.

Starting as a private birthday celebration, Mavis has been organising this event annually for more than 30 years and it has become a fixture in many people’s summer diaries.

Now nearing her 80th birthday, Mavis says “It’s always a great evening on the river with the music which has been my life a glass of something in my hand and surrounded by my friends. Regrettably however, the time has come to slow down a little and this will have to be the last one I organise.”

This year’s great event will be on board the Mississippi Riverboat as usual, on Sunday 6th July, featuring the Excelsior Jazz Band. As always, the boat will leave Horning Staithe, just by the historic Swan Inn, at 7.00pm prompt: the boat will ‘dock’ again at 10.00 pm.
