Essex Branch Orwell Cruise Report
30 August 2013
Equity Essex General Branch enjoyed clement weather for it's trip down the river Orwell on 17th August. It could have been warmer and less windy, but with Stan standing in the bows, his hair billowing in the August breeze, we were certain to have a good trip. The cruise was very interesting with views of the Orwell Bridge and it's resident Peregrine, Pin Mill and the Leviathans at Felixstowe Dock. Sadly, the weather worsened, making the harbour around Harwich rather too choppy for the vessel which beat a hasty retreat to calmer waters. Safely ashore the group invaded the nearby Hotel for an evening meal which was not as much a gustatory delight as one might have expected at the price. However, another successful outing with good company and many memorable laughs.
