Summer Party Success!!!

17 August 2012

This year's Summer Party was an enormous success; very well attended; lots of chat, bonhomie and positive vibes from a wonderfully wide cross section of ages with many more new and young members in attendance.

Added to that, a record breaking raffle (with lots of Equity branded prizes - umbrellas, wrist bands and USB memory sticks to mention but a few...and other assorted prizes generously donated by members); and the annual presentation of the Vicky Allan Memorial Award (for best over-all production of a new short play), again being awarded to a play produced within the 24:7 Theatre Festival.

And the winner is.... This year the award went to Ian Townsend for "All the Bens" by unanimous decision of the judges Andrew Fillis (ALRA North), Porl Cooper (The Lowry) and judges' chairman, Hylton Collins. Huge thanks must go to them for agreeing to do this, especially Hylton who was asked to fulfill this post on behalf of the branch in 2008/9 and has generously given his time to continue to do it ever since....So thank you again and again and again.....and many congratulations to Ian Townsend.

Thanks must also go once again to Branch Social Secretary, Maggi Hevicon-Thompson, for organising the evening and allowing the Branch to make a small profit this time round.

Here's to the pre-Christmas Party in December. Hope to see you there....
