Bristol & West General Branch - March Meeting with Mark McGann

All Equity members are welcome to the next branch meeting of the Bristol and West General Branch of Equity, which will be held at 7.30pm on TUESDAY 19th MARCH 2013 in the conference room at the YHA, 14 Narrow Quay, Bristol BS1 4QA (just a few doors down from the Arnolfini - information on the venue can be found here).

We are pleased to welcome the actor, director, musician and Equity member, Mark McGann, as our guest Speaker

Mark McGann is a twice Olivier Award Nominated actor, director and musican.
Roles include John Lennon in Lennon, Imagine and the film John and Yoko: A Love StoryHe also received acclaim for his role as 'Conor Phelan' in The Hanging Gale a BBC drama set against the backdrop of the Irish Potato Famine of 1846 in which he appeared with his three brothers; Paul, Joe and Stephen.
Mark now lives in Frome, Somerset, where he has set up the businesses Drama Direct and Screen Direct, offering professional insets, projects, workshops and Masterclasses.

We are also pleased to welcome actor and Equity member Jay Yip, who will be giving us a report on the recent Open Space event that was held by Arts Council England, Equity, SOLT/TMA, CDG and the Young Vic to address the lack of employment opportunities for East Asian artists in UK theatre.
A recent issue of contention was the RSC's casting of the The Orphan of Zhao.
