Wessex Variety Branch

15 April 2014

The current Wessex branch area was formed by the amalgamation of the previous Sussex & District Variety Branch with the original Wessex Branch, following the closure of the Sussex Branch.

Unfortunately, those members who had striven to keep both branches running for the benefit of members all along the south coast from Hastings to Bournemouth had no choice but to surrender to an apparent lack of interest (and active support) from those members.

The branch has not been officially dissolved and proposals for the future of a Variety Branch or Branches to cover the area are under discussion. One suggestion is the formation of a new General Branch to cover the west of the area: an innovative joint General/Variety Branch has also been suggested.

Parts of the area of the Wessex Variety Branch are also covered by the Brighton & Sussex (General) Branch and the Dorset (General) Branch respectively: both branches welcome all new members whatever their discipline.

Members who are interested in future developments in this branch area are encouraged to contact the Southeast Regional Organiser at .
