Concerns about actors working in role-play

A growing number of Equity members are working in role-play. Role-play companies recognise that the skills of artists are a great asset to grow their businesses and strengthen the sector. Whilst there are many examples of good practice, there are also concerns around late payment, unclear fee structures and other poor terms of engagement.

Equity can and does help members working in the sector on an individual basis – making legal claims for unpaid expenses, advising on insurance matters, chasing late payment and more – but we are trying to assess what role we can play in helping our members collectively. In order to do this effectively, we need the views of those members who work in role-play so we can map the sector and more fully understand the real experiences that our members have at work.

By following the link below and spending a few minutes completing our survey on role-play, as many members have already done, you can help inform our discussions with employers to try and improve the sector for all.
