South and South East London Branch
Welcome to the South and South East London Equity Branch Page
This month we’re meeting at the Young Vic Theatre on Saturday 19th September, at the slightly later time of 18:00. We’ve got Rod Dixon from Red Ladder Theatre Company coming to talk to us.
Red Ladder is a radical theatre company with 45 years of history. The company is acknowledged as one of Britain’s leading national touring companies producing new theatre, contributing to social change and global justice. Red Ladder is funded by Arts Council England and by Leeds City Council.
Rod became Artistic Director of Red Ladder Theatre Company in 2006, following his role as associate director at the Barbican Theatre in Plymouth. He has also ran The Hub Theatre School in Cornwall and been an actor with several companies including Kneehigh Theatre. Directing credits for Red Ladder include Where’s Vietnam?, Forgotten Things, Riot, Rebellion & Bloody Insurrection, Ugly, Sex & Docks & Rock ‘N’ Roll, Big Society! and Promised Land. Rod is both a life-long Liverpool supporter and a believer in Proudhon’s principles of anarchy – the two might be connected.

A large part of what we are doing in our branch at the moment is about making the branch accessible, open and above all interesting and relevant to members. We are in the process of expanding our branch activities as well as increasing action as part of the union. If you have ideas you want to share, or things you’d like to see us doing please get in touch or come along to a meeting, we want to hear from you.
We aim to get interesting speakers to attend each branch meeting. If you know someone you think would be a good speaker, or if you would like to share your knowledge on a specific topic, please contact Fiona or Paul.
If you are an Equity member or student member based in the area you are able to join the branch (no charge) so please get in touch with the Branch Secretary. If you are a member or student member visiting the area you are very welcome to drop into the next branch meeting and get to know some of your fellow members.
