We are pleased to welcome the Award winning playwright, Jim Graham Brown as our guest speaker.

Jim Graham Brown writes under the name Dougie Blaxland and is the author to date of 32 plays written for the stage, 13 of which are published by New Theatre Publications.

He was awarded a Peggy Ramsay Foundation Grant in 2010 and in the same year won The Watermill Theatre’s Raising New Voices Award for his play Never Any Fruit. Previous awards include New Plays UK Best Play in 2004 for Moving in and Taking Over and The Oxford Drama Network’s Best New Play 2008 for A Degree of Compulsion. A Public Kind of Privacy and Chauntecleer and Pertelotte were both nominated for Best Show at the Brighton Festival in 2007 and 2009 respectively.

Recent commissions include Machamlear for The Theatre Royal Bath, A Harlot’s Progress for The Hampstead Theatre, Call Me Biggles for Original Theatre Company and Women at War for the Arts Council South West be performed in 2014 to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War 1.

In addition he is a Trustee of The Rondo Theatre Bath and works as a part-time lecturer for University College Oxford teaching post graduate M Lit students. He is represented by Lindsay Bender of Berlin Associates.
