Live Entertainment Works Campaign

2 February 2015

Want to see more venues offering work?  Here's a chance for every member to help Equity's great "Live Entertainment Works" campaign by letting old and new venues know how changes in Licensing laws have made it easier and cheaper to put on live performance. Equity’s Live Entertainment Works campaign is up and running with members visiting venues all around the country to talk to them about putting on live entertainment. Even if you can’t regularly come along to branch meetings and branch events you can still get involved with the campaign yourself. After all, getting involved can require little more than going to your local pub – something which many members often do anyway. Once there, or at other venues in your locality, you just need to find out if they put on live entertainment. If they do then ask them to put up a poster and support the campaign. If they don’t then give them the guide book and ask them to give live entertainment a try. All the good reasons for doing so, as well as how to do it, are shown in the guide book. To get some posters, guide books and badges contact your Branch Secretary or Michael Day at Equity head office (mday@equity.org.uk 020 7670 0235).

‘Selfie’ competition

For a bit of fun as part of the campaign Equity is running a ‘selfie’ photo competition. This is for photos taken in connection with the campaign and showing a Live Entertainment Works poster at a venue which is supporting the campaign. So, if you get a venue to sign up then why not grab a snap on your mobile. Images need to be submitted by email to Michael Day (mday@equity.org.uk) no later than 1st May 2015. There will be a prize of £100 to the winning entry and then winner will be announced at Equity’s Annual Representative Conference in May 2015. Entries will also be put up on Equity’s Flikr group and Facebook page.
