How to register with your branch and receive local updates - Action required

WHAT IS AN EQUITY BRANCH?

Equity branches are your local meeting place to discuss current work issues, socialise, get involved in campaigning and influence the direction of the union. Branches are run by a committee of volunteer members, who are elected every two years. One of the key themes in the representative structure of Equity is that General Branches have the opportunity to play an enhanced role. Therefore it has never been more important to be involved in your local Branch.

By being registered to the branch you can also opt in to a monthly e-newsletter which has links to minutes of previous Meet Ups, articles about the industry both locally and nationally, as well as occasional job ads and casting calls, and information on forthcoming workshops and opportunities.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO NOW?

If you are interested in finding out more details, or checking whether you are registered to the branch and subscribed to our newsletter, you need to go through the following stages:

  1. LOGIN

    Follow this link www.equity.org.uk/my-account. Enter your Equity membership number (excluding any initial letter), and your password, then click Login.
    If you’ve not previously logged into the website simply click on the link in the sub-header to set up a password.

  2. CHECK YOUR CONTACT DETAILS

    Once you have logged in, you can edit your email address under the PERSONAL DETAILS tab.


  3. OPT IN TO YOUR BRANCH

    Under the BRANCHES tab, tick to OPT IN to your General and/or Variety branch (you can choose either or both).

    Then choose which branch(es) you would like to be affiliated to. You can choose up to one General Branch and one Variety Branch to be a member of.





  4. REGISTER TO RECEIVE BRANCH EMAILS and/or SHARE INFO WITH YOUR BRANCH SECRETARY

    To receive branch emails, under the PREFERENCES tab make sure you've ticked RECEIVE GENERAL/VARIETY BRANCH EMAILS.

    You can also choose to allow your local branch secretary to access your mobile and home phone numbers, email address, postcode and information on your areas of interest as a performer. This will enable them to contact you directly regarding events or opportunities in your local area that may be of interest to you. They will not share this data without your consent. If you're happy to share this information, you can also tick the box under DATA SHARING.

    You may also like to use the opportunity to update your details under the PROFESSIONAL DETAILS, INTERESTS and EQUALITY MONITORING tabs.

    Once you're done, click SAVE CHANGES at the bottom of the page.
