Reading & debate of Norma Cohen's play 'No Reasonable Offer Refused'
When 65-year-old bespoke tailor Label Levansky Levy sees his old sparring partner from the stetl, Moyshie Oshinsky set up the latest branch of Burton’s off-the-peg clothes store opposite his own modest shop front, he‘s forced by his ambitious wife Gitel to fight for his survival
Postwar Liverpool is the site of an intergenerational family struggle between Jack, Label’s one-track politico son; Jack's disenchanted wife Nella caught between the worlds of tradition, party politics and her own needs; and their 12-year-old daughter Rosa, whose sharp eye and ear strains towards the heady new beat of rock 'n' roll. Can Rosa’s fresh energy prove the catalyst for change?
