The next meeting of the Cardiff and South Wales General Branch will be held on Thursday 15 November  2018 Time 7 to 9 p.m.  Venue Chapter Arts Centre, Market Street, Canton   Cardiff.CF5 1QE -Meeting in Room 1. Circumstances beyond our control have resulted once again in a change of venue . Your  Committee are hoping to move to a regular meeting place from January 2019 onwards.

We are pleased to welcome Welsh Assembly Member Bethan Sayed  Chairperson of the  Culture, Welsh Language and Communications Committee as our Guest Speaker for November. Bethan will address the Branch on a wide range of topics that are of concern to Equity  Members. This Meeting will be conducted bi-lingually and simultaneous translation is to be provided..

On their website the Welsh Assembly Government describe the work of the Committee as follows:-- 

The Committee was established on 28 June 2016 to examine legislation and hold the Welsh Government to account by scrutinising expenditure, administration and policy matters, encompassing (but not restricted to): culture; the arts; historic environment; Welsh language; communications; broadcasting and the media.

 Currently the Committee is conducting the following Inquiries
The role of arts and culture in addressing poverty and social exclusion
Short inquiry into the implications of Brexit
Supporting and Promoting the Welsh Language
Film and Major TV Production in Wales
Radio in Wales
Short inquiry into ‘Building an S4C for the future: An independent review by Euryn Ogwen Williams’
