Introducing the new Leeds Branch Committee

Since our successful Annual General Meeting in January there have been several changes on the Branch Committee.

Taking over as Branch Chair, is Bradford based Drama student Alan Troake. Alan has also been recently elected as Vice-President of Bradford Trades Union Council.

York based actress and singer Helen Lewis takes on the roles of Vice-Chair and Treasurer.

Mytholmroyd resident, storyteller Pete Keal remains as Secretary. Pete is also an Equity representative on the TUC Yorkshire and Humber Creative and Leisure Industries Committee and secretary of the West Yorkshire Association of Trades Union Councils.

Supporting the officers, other committee members will be helping with various aspects of running the branch.

Actor Lee Saunders will be helping to organise rehearsed readings and workshops when the Covid-19 emergency has abated and physical meetings return.

The Committee welcomes three new members: Actor, Writer and Yoga teacher Sophie Bickerdike will be helping with newsletters and is finding out about how other branches organise their workshops programme. Actor Amy Blake has recently joined our branch having been an active member of Sheffield branch since its formation in 2018. Amy will be helping with arranging speakers for meetings, socials, rehearsed readings and social media. Actor and Mental Health First Aider Mabeth Davies will be helping with socials, the branch web site and social media and will be the branch’s delegate to Huddersfield Trades Union Council.

Broadcaster and writer Anil Bharath completes the committee membership.
