Branch Newsletter - March 2019

Open House, Open Mic

Sunday, 24th March 2019 between 2pm and 4:30pm
at West Kirby Arts Centre, Brookfield Gardens, West Kirby, CH48 4EL

We're holding our second branch Open House event later this month, and we're giving you the chance to showcase yourself too. As well as a good opportunity to meet your fellow entertainment professionals and union members, we'll have an open mic for you to showcase your skills.

Dance, Drama, Music, Monologues, Comedy or Clowning, whatever your art come along and sign up for a 5-10 minute slot at our Open Mic, or e-mail us at to secure your open mic slot today. The bar will be open, and we'd love to meet as many members as we can, so if you don't usually come to branch meeting this is your chance to meet your fellow members and have a bit of fun. This is an open meeting, so feel free to invite your colleagues who aren't yet members. You can share the event at the bottom of this email by Twitter or Facebook at the push of a button.

You Asked Us

Branch Members asked us to run more workshops. Darren Brown, Branch Secretary is currently working to deliver six workshops for the branch. Your committee put in an application for finding and was successful so watch out for news of the following workshops heading your way in 2019:

  • Movement & Physical Theatre
  • Voice and Accents
  • Improvisation/Clowning
  • Radio Drama (Including Microphone Techniques)
  • Mental Health Awareness
  • General Business Skills (Including Self Promotion)

The union's annual conference will be held in May and at our last branch meeting. The ARC is the opportunity to tell the union what our members want it to do over the coming year. Our members asked the branch to send a motion asking the union to campaign to keep arts on school curricula. Branch Chair Martin Williams and Branch PRO Amy Stout will be your representatives this year and will put the motion in front of the conference.
