Equity members celebrate Milton

Local Equity involvement in celebrating John Milton anniversary

Some of you may have noticed the flurry of interest recently in the media and elsewhere in John Milton and his great epic poem Paradise Lost. This August marked the 350th anniversary of the publication of Milton’s great epic poem, and Equity members are very much involved in their local tribute.

Branch Treasurer Thomas Bewley has organised an hour-long production entitled Paradise Lost – a staged reading, to tour various venues in and around Oxford next month. It concentrates on the great debate set in Pandemonium in Book 2, and the cast of devils includes local members Anita Wright, Karen Ford, Richard Worland, Nicola Borthwick and committee member Juliet Dante.

Full details about venues, tickets and times appear on the website: http://www.thomasbewley.com/paradise-lost.htm.

John Milton’s mastery of blank verse has probably only been surpassed, in a different way, by Shakespeare, and we believe that audiences will be in for a treat. Do spread the word, and come along if you can.
