We hope you’re doing as well as possible through this continued difficult time.
We’re writing to let you know about Tobacco Factory Theatres' new online Masterclass programme. It’s aimed specifically at professional artists, and offers a range of exciting sessions led by inspirational practitioners, available on a Pay What You Choose basis.
Everyone is in unique financial circumstances at the moment, and so with places available from £3 per session we hope you’ll feel able to participate if you'd like to. We are subsidising the cost of each masterclass so that session leaders are paid fully for their work.
Between now and June we plan to offer at least 20 sessions covering a range of disciplines, and we hope that in due course some of these will be delivered in person in our spaces.
So far we’ve announced: a four week acting course led by renowned RSC actor Katy Stephens, a session about producing your own artistic work, delivered by multi-award winning theatre maker Josie Dale-Jones and an exploration of moving together whilst apart with dancer and choreographer Laïla Diallo.
- Preparing For a Show - a directing masterclass with Nancy Medina - 8 March
- Take Back Control - one-on-one therapeutic sessions with theatre maker and hypnotherapist Heather Williams - slots available from 8 March
- Physical Devising - an Ad Infinitum masterclass led by Deborah Pugh - double session 22 & 29 March
- Working With Light - an exploration of lighting design for all theatre makers, with Chris Swain - 24 March
Masterclasses will take place on Zoom and if you have any access needs, please let us know at the point of booking.
We are also developing plans around support for artists over the upcoming year. Thank you to those of you who have been in touch and shared ideas, your input has been so valuable. We will hold an update meeting around our plans and we’ll be in touch about that soon.
Thanks for your time in reading this, and we're sending you our kindest wishes,
from all of us at Tobacco Factory Theatres
PS. If you live in the South West, please consider becoming an Artist Member with us. It is free to join and all you need to do is email us letting us know where you're based and a bit about your practice. The address to email this to is firstname.lastname@example.org.
