Comedian: Joy Carter

My Summary

Joy Carter is an established UK stand-up comedian, actress and writer in 2008 her talents were recognised when she was nominated for an EMMA Award(*Ethnic multicultural media award). Joy has performed at the London Hilton with Claudia Winkleman for the London Beauty Awards, and is featured in Steve Best’s new book featuring the top current UK Comedians. As well as a firm foundation and serving many years on the UK comedy circuit Joy is a regular in the media discussing many of the pressing news stories of the day on shows such as the Nick Ferrari Show, LBC with Iain Dale, BBC Radio London 94.9FM with Eddie Nestor and BBC World Service Joys’ live work due to Covid has seen her perform comedy on zoom to exciting new audiences as she took part in the first online 5 hour comedy festival in aid of Help the Aged and other leading mental health organisations. As well as in the past performing her comedy shows to around the UK at festivals, conferences, news events, universities and churches. Joy’s comedy style is quirky clean observational humour, tight joke structures and she isn't afraid to use her many talents in her act, she is a professional flute player whose hobbies include ballet, piano playing and gardening. In 2015 to 2017 Joy toured the UK with her very personal real-life 1hr comedy adoption show called ‘Spot the Difference’ taking it to the Edinburgh, Brighton, Leicester, Swindon and Nottingham comedy festivals to name a few to high acclaim and some sell out shows. Joy is a diverse comedian and her corporate client list reflects that with glittering performances for clients such as RBS Bank, Bond Dickinson, Metropolitan Police, Diocese of Leicester and many universities such as Nottingham Trent, Preston, Goldsmiths and Grimsby to name a few. Joy's passion for adoption related work has blossomed over the past 10 years, she is now a much sought after speaker and advocate working closely with government organisations, writing articles, fronting media discussions, presentations and campaigns and most recently writing a series of seminars on adoption/fostering issues around ‘Black lives matter’.
