Acting for Others raises £188,995
17 May 2011
Theatrical charity Acting for Others has announced that theatre goers in the UK raised £188,995 in 2010 for performers in distress.
Sir Stephen Waley-Cohen, chairman of the Combined Theatrical Charities, said:
“Thank you to all theatre managers, theatre staff, producers, directors and artistes for supporting the 2010 Acting for Others collections. Against all expectations we surpassed last year’s figure. Once again we learned how essential it is to have a really good ‘speech from the stage’ by a leading company member. All thanks to you!”
All member charities such as The Royal Ballet Benevolent fund and Denville Hall received essential funding from the Acting for Others collections which has enabled them to carry on with their critical work to help all members of the performing arts, including fellow performers in third world countries.
