Alan Bates Bursary winner
1 May 2013
The Actors Centre has presented Adam Buchanan from the Guildford School of Acting with the Alan Bates Bursary 2013.
More than 170 students audition for the Bursary of which just 18 went through to the second round. This round was a three-stage, all-day workshop with leading practitioners Jennie Buckman, Paul Clayton and Cariad Lloyd. Only six could make it through the final round to audition in front of our specialist industry panel; Hannah Miller (Head of Casting, RSC), Joseph Millson (Actor/RSC Associate Artist) and Meg Poole (Senior Partner, Richard Stone Partnership).
“It was a demanding audition process and to be named the winner is an accolade I am extremely proud of. The prizes will help immensely as I begin my career in this challenging and exciting industry,” said Adam Buchanan.
The bursary provides Adam with a significant package of goods and services designed to support him as he launches his career, this includes membership of Equity and Spotlight for a year.
The finalists with Adam were Joseph Richardson (Guildford School of Acting), Angus Miller (Drama Centre), Paksie Vernon (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), Adam Karrie (Guildford School of Acting) and Ken Nwosu (Drama Centre).
The runners-up also receive a bundle of various prizes.
