BBC encourages Equity members to contact Savile enquiry
21 November 2012
On the 16 October the General Secretaries of the Federation of Entertainment Unions met with George Entwistle, the then BBC Director General.
The Director General spent most of the meeting updating the union on the Jimmy Savile investigations and following the meeting Lucy Adams, BBC Director of Human Resources, wrote asking the union to raise with her any examples we may have of bullying or harassment claims, past or current, which any of the unions may feel it worth bringing to the attention of the Savile enquiry. A copy of her letter is available to members here.
Whilst the number of claims Equity has received have been very few the Equity Council wished to inform members that if they have experienced bullying or harassment whilst working for the
BBC they should contact the Equity on email@example.com.
The Federation of Entertainment Unions brings together Equity, the Musicians' Union, the Writers' Guild of Great Britain, BECTU, the National Union of Journalists, the Professional Footballers' Association and Unite.
