Casting event for disabled actors

A casting event for disabled actors will take place on 3rd December at the BBC’s New Broadcasting House in central London. The event will enable 40 disabled actors to each meet four casting directors working in television for a one-to-one general audition. Major broadcasters including including the BBC and ITV are involved in this event, aims of which include helping broadcasters to identify disabled talent and increase their knowledge of this pool of actors and to increase the on-screen portrayal of disabled people.

In order to apply for a place you should be: A full Equity member who identifies as disabled; and have either graduated from an accredited drama school or undertaken vocational training; or have undertaken paid work in the business

How to apply
Please complete the application form and return it by email to nbarker@equity.org.uk or send a hard copy to Natalie Barker at Equity, Guild House, Upper St.Martin’s Lane, London, WC2H 9EG.  The deadline for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Wednesday 6th November 2013. The selection process will be undertaken by the casting directors’ team and we will be in touch to let you know if you have got a slot or not, but please note that we will not be contacting people until week commencing 18th November.
