Garrick Trust encourages grant applications from theatres

18 October 2012

At a time of unprecedented cuts in arts funding, the Garrick Charitable Trust is continuing to play a small but useful role in helping professional arts organisations, many of who are currently in urgent need of financial support.

The Trust gives grants of £2,500 to £5,000, and occasionally up to £10,000, to high performing fringe theatres where good work is being done under difficult financial circumstances. The Trust has also made grants to regional theatres to support imaginative and innovative work.

In the last financial year the Trust made grants totalling £96,316, and set a budget of £150,000 for the year ahead, in support of theatre, dance literature and music.

The Trust has asked for Equity's help in trying to increase applications from the theatre in recognition of the Trust's roots in the Garrick Club and in the theatre. For more information about the Trust visit or e-mail
