Invest for Success Twitter campaign
26 November 2012
The Autumn Statement provides an update on the government’s plans for the economy based on the latest forecasts from the Office for Budget Responsibility.
Equity members working across all fields of the entertainment industry, need to make the case against further cuts to the arts and culture and to demonstrate that the modest investment the government makes in these sectors reaps rewards for the economy.
We’re asking members to tweet the Treasury (@hmtreasury) any time during the week 26– 30 November, telling them why the arts and culture are a valuable and productive part of our economy.
Suggested Twitter messages to @hmtreasury are:
£1m of public funding for film gave us £11m & the Kings Speech. We need to #investforsuccess
For every £1 that the Arts Councils invest, £2 is generated from elsewhere #investforsuccess
UK films generate a tenth of overseas tourism revenues. We need to #investforsucess
75% of directors, designers & writers working in the West End come from publically funded theatre. #investforsuccess

We’re also using Thunderclap to send out one collective message on facebook and twitter on the last day (30 November), here’s how to do that: https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/695-invest-for-success
