NFTS course for young media entrepreneurs
12 October 2012
The National Film and Television School has created a unique 10-month business school for young media entrepreneurs. Starting in January 2013, it provides participants with the opportunity to acquire a detailed overview of commercial practice in the seven domains of the arts - television, film, theatre, music, publishing, games and online entertainment. It will also give them the opportunity to meet leading media industry executives and investors across the sectors and to build, test and launch their own business proposal – including presentation to financiers.
Chris Auty, Head of Producing at NFTS, told Equity that the course’s first term will be dedicated to breaking down the business practice in each area; the second teaches business planning, marketing, self-presentation, fundraising, sales and management; and the third will see participants develop a live business plan or project which will be pitched to a panel of UK media investors and executives, led by Ingenious. He added that factoring in proper budgeting for paying performers will be a key element of the course.
Applications close on 19 October. For more information visit: www.nfts.co.uk/our-courses/diploma/entrepreneurial-producing-creative-industries
