TUC backs campaign to save C4 from privatisation
7 October 2016
Speculation on the future of Channel 4 was sparked again recently after it out-bid the BBC for Bake Off. At its October meeting, the Equity Council received a report from the 2016 Trades Union Congress where Equity's motion calling for TUC support for Channel 4 to remain in public hands received overwhelming support. Equity also contributed to TUC debates on mental health and work, freelance workers, young trade union members and equality and diversity in entertainment.
In October, the Equity Council also discussed ther closure of training accreditation body Drama UK, the future of BBC radio, busking restriction by some local authorities, a stage management buyout calculator and Stage Management Day on 10 October.
