Equity President Maureen Beattie reacts to the news of Harvey Weinstein's rape conviction.
"Harvey Weinstein’s conviction will resonate across the entertainment industry and shake those in power who still believe there are no consequences to their actions.
I stand with those many women who have had the bravery to speak out about the utterly unacceptable experiences they have been put through. As I said when we launched our Safe Spaces campaign two years ago the Union is in this for the long haul.
The culture of fear in our industry may have improved but it has not disappeared, and that’s why our Safe Spaces campaign continues. In the coming months we will be assessing our campaign and its impact and strengthening its purpose. Our goal is an industry where no one need ever feel afraid ever again."
