Political parties back our Scotland Election Manifesto

Equity’s Scotland Election Manifesto has received support from the Scottish Greens, Scottish Labour, the SNP and Scottish Liberal Democrats. The manifesto has been launched ahead of the Scottish Parliamentary election on 6 May 2021.

On Tuesday 4 May, Equity members in Scotland held a zoom session highlighting the Manifesto Asks. They were joined by Claire Baker, Scottish Labour MSP and Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Fair Work and Culture, who expressed her support and fielded questions. There were also written statements of support from the Scottish Greens, Scottish Liberal Democrats and a video message of support from Fiona Hyslop, SNP MSP and Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Fair Work and Culture.

Equity isn’t affiliated to any political party, but we believe it is crucial that our members vote and have their voices heard. We’re calling on all political parties to protect and promote the creative sector and the workers in our industries, particularly in the context of Brexit and the recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. Read our Manifesto Asks.

During the session, attendees also heard from Equity member Isabella Jarrett who spoke about the impact of the pandemic and Brexit on fellow Equity members. Watch the video she made for the Scottish Trades Union Congress on the issues
