Your guide to working in commercials
Our members working in commercials are contributing to a successful advertising industry, estimated value of £35 billion in the UK alone in 2022. Artists’ contributions are crucial to making commercials effective, fun and lucrative for brands, the UK and worldwide economy and the advertising and production industries. You clearly deserve your contributions to be paid well, treated with dignity and respect, and have your rights honoured.
Our commercials members MUST be aware of what rates to charge, what conditions to work under, terms of their contract and their usage payments. This is because there is no enforceable collective agreement in Commercials which determines your pay and conditions – so you need to be on top of how commercials work and to ensure you are getting a good deal.
Join Equity and be part of our collective movement to make the commercials industry a better place to work for our members.
As the trade union for artists in commercial work, we’ve created an information one-stop-shop below to bring together different resources for our members. Get clued up on everything you need to know about working as an artist in commercials and how you can get involved.
