Oxford & Buckinghamshire Branch

Equity Oxford and Buckinghamshire

Welcome to Oxford and Buckinghamshire  branch

We are a branch of about 800 members, spread over the counties of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire

We plan to meet every 6 weeks or so and try to move the meetings around the area so all members get an opportunity to come to a branch meeting in person, or join in online, since all meetings are held as both in person and virtual events, this means you can attend either in person or virtually on Zoom. In addition, we will host a number of informal "coffee morning" meetings when we shall be pleased to meet members and those who would like to know more about Equity.

Forthcoming dates are:

Campaigns you can help with

At our meetings we will tell you about the campaigns that Equity is running. You will have the opportunity to support these campaigns as well as discussing what is important to you  - and how the Branch can start its own, local, campaigns.

Members have given us great ideas for ways to help:

  • Set up a "rehearsal buddies" group
  • Set up a playreading group
  • Provide help with creating a professional self-tape
  • Provide workshops on skills

Rehearsal Buddies are members who are willing to help those who would welcome someone to rehearse with, ranging from line runs to character exploration.

A Playreading Group not only does the obvious like bringing together members to read a play, but also provides the opportunity to explore text, get an idea of how a play sounds, what kind of voices work well, and so on.

Self-tapes are so important for those involved in performance. Workshops run by experts amongst our membership will guide you through how to create your best self-tape. Once you know how, you then get to record one!

Many members are interested in finding out more about working in the industry, so we will try to create workshops that demonstrate a range of creative skills.

To find out more, or contribute to these great ideas, use the "Get in touch with us" section at the bottom of this page or click on the blue "Email the branch" button.
