We are thrilled to announce that Crossroads Pantomimes have put pen to paper on a landmark pantomime agreement, meaning all performers and stage management who work for the world’s biggest pantomime producer will now do so on a union agreement.

The agreement will come into effect for the 2023/2024 pantomime season for Crossroads productions across the UK.

Overall, Crossroads produces 24 pantomimes across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, with the new agreement applying to all Crossroads productions aside from that at the London Palladium which is already producing under the Equity-SOLT agreement.

Like all the collective Equity Agreements, the agreement provides for holiday, sick pay, Equity pension, hours of work, breaks and sets the minimum floor for weekly pay and overtime.

We hope that this agreement will serve as a catalyst for other commercial pantomime production companies to follow suit. If successful, this will give casts the certainty of good terms and conditions across the major pantomime production companies, help the industry raise standards in general, and allow for a much more even playing field across producers. Audiences can in turn be assured that those performers and stage management working on productions do so under fair and dignified conditions.

Paul W Fleming, General Secretary of Equity says: “I am delighted that Michael Harrison has entered into this Agreement with us for all his Crossroads pantomimes. We are certain that it will be of benefit not only to those he engages on the Crossroads contract, but will set the benchmark for other pantomime producers to follow.

Our members engaged in pantomimes work extremely hard meeting the heavy schedules and giving to each performance the energy the audience deserves. Knowing that their terms and conditions meet the union standard will be greatly appreciated and remove any concerns they may have.
