Equity has written to Cherwell District Council in support of an application by Puy du Fou to develop one of its immersive historical parks in Oxfordshire. Puy du Fou has a strong track record of working with trade unions to ensure fair pay and decent terms and conditions for performers, as demonstrated at their existing showpark in France.
If it were to go ahead, the project would be a significant investment in Oxfordshire’s creative and cultural economy. The park has the potential to create thousands of skilled jobs and training opportunities across performance, stage management, costume, design, technical production, and related crafts — not only during the operation of the attraction but throughout its creation and build.

“We are particularly encouraged that Puy du Fou has a strong international record of recognising trade unions and working with collective agreements that ensure fair pay, decent working hours, and safe conditions for all artists and creative workers. Equity looks forward to engaging positively with Puy du Fou UK to ensure that these same high standards are embedded from the outset in their UK operations.
“We also welcome Cherwell District Council’s recognition of the importance of culture and live performance to Oxfordshire’s economic and community life, and we look forward to seeing this project deliver on its promise to provide sustainable, high-quality employment in the creative industries.”
The council are currently reviewing Puy de Fou’s application.
