You can use the online form here to notify us if you know of an individual who has passed away, and believe they may be a member of the union.
We have collated a list of external sources of support for those who are dealing with the loss of a loved one. The estate may also be eligible for an expense grant to help with the administration of the estate.
Yes, you are welcome to apply for the grant as the next of kin if you need financial support with the administration of the estate. You can email the team directly for further clarification on bereavement@equity.org.uk
You are welcome to send a copy of the death certificate via our online web form. If we require any further information, a member of the team will be in touch directly.
You are welcome to dispose of the membership card, or keep this as a keepsake should you wish to do so. We do not require you to send this back to us.
Eligible applicants will be entitled to a sum of £400. This will need to be claimed within 12 months of notifying Equity. Beneficiaries of the Estate would only be entitled to this if the membership was in benefit at the time of passing. We do not expect this sum to be paid back.
It can take up to 45 days to process applications from start of notice, to payment receipt. If you have any further questions about this timeframe, you can contact bereavement@equity.org.uk
